| Description
Deep and almost opaque ruby colour. On the nose showing a stunning intensity, packed with red and jammy black fruit aromas. On the palate full bodied and robust, with an exceptional velvety and well-rounded structure, leading to a complex and fruit-driven finish. An excellent LBV from an outstanding Vintage!
Graham’s LBV can be enjoyed anytime and pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts and hard cheeses like mature Cheddar or even with a soft goat’s cheese.
Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage Port is a superb wine selected from the finest production of a very good year, but unlike a ‘declared’ Vintage Port - which is bottled in its second year, ‘LBV’ matures for an average of 5 years in seasoned oak casks prior to bottling (hence the term, ‘Late Bottled’). This wood - ageing encourages the wine’s development and it is therefore ready to drink sooner than Vintage Port. As with the latter, Late Bottled Vintage Ports are sourced primarily from the Malvedos vineyard.
Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage possesses attractive liquorice and floral aromas and fresh, ripe blackberry fruit flavours. It epitomizes Graham’s house style very effectively: great rich fruit concentration with spicy complexity and depth, held together by superb structure and balance.
Graham’s wines come primarily from its own Quinta dos Malvedos near Tua and Quinta das Lages in the Rio Torto. Two others, privately owned by a member of the Symington family, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta de Vale de Malhadas, also supply Graham with finest quality grapes. All four Quintas are among the best in the upper Douro valley. Graham’s also buys grapes from selected farmers in the finest districts. Some of these farmers have been selling their grapes to Graham’s for generations.
